About the role
We are recruiting a Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school near Thurnscoe, starting September 2026.
This is a full-time position beginning on long‑term supply, with shortlisting taking place in June 2026 and a strong opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities
- Provide classroom support across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils stay engaged and on task.
- Deliver small‑group or 1:1 interventions as directed by teaching staff.
- Support students with additional learning or behavioural needs.
- Assist in creating a positive, safe and inclusive school environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to enhance learning outcomes.
- Pre‑requisites
- Relevant qualifications (e. g., Level 2/3 TA qualification or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience of supporting students in a secondary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of effective classroom support strategies.
- Two education or school‑based references.
- A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
- Access to a car due to limited public transport links.
