About the role
We are seeking a committed SEMH Specialist to join our mainstream Alternative Provision from September 2026. You will work with secondary‑aged learners who present a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, supporting them to re‑engage with learning and develop positive, sustainable behaviours.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, values relationship‑based practice, and is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted SEMH interventions that promote emotional regulation, resilience and engagement
- Support behaviour management using trauma‑informed and restorative approaches
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced exclusion or disrupted schooling
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning and create inclusive classroom environments
- Contribute to personalised plans, EHCP reviews and multi‑agency meetings
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and student wellbeing
Pre‑requisites
- Previous experience supporting secondary‑aged students with SEMH needs (essential)
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice and behaviour support
- Resilient, empathetic and proactive approach to working with vulnerable young people
- Ability to de‑escalate, motivate and inspire
- Commitment to professional development and reflective practice
