About the role: Justteachers is seeking a committed and adaptable Food Technology Teacher to join a specialist behavioural setting in the outskirts of the West of Coventry on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for a teacher with a passion for practical, skills-based learning who can engage and inspire students who face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. The role is to start in September 2026 and will be on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The successful candidate will deliver creative and structured Food Technology lessons to small groups, helping students build confidence, independence, and life skills in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical Food Technology lessons tailored to students with behavioural and emotional needs.
- Foster a calm, safe, and respectful classroom environment that supports positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Build positive relationships with students, encouraging participation, self-esteem, and personal responsibility.
- Work closely with the wider team to contribute to students’ individual learning plans and emotional development.
- Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, and hygiene standards in the kitchen environment.
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or significant experience in delivering Food Technology in a school or alternative provision.
- Experience working in behavioural, PRU (Pupil Referral Unit), or SEMH settings (desirable).
- Strong classroom management skills and a flexible, empathetic approach to teaching.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with students who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education.
- Two relevant references, ideally from an educational or youth work setting.
