About the role: Justteachers is seeking a SEMH Instructor to join a dynamic Alternative Provision in the Nelson area, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This full-time role is available on a long-term or permanent basis, starting ASAP, with shortlisting currently underway. The provision prides itself on its therapeutic approach, small-group learning environments, and commitment to re‑engaging learners who have faced barriers in mainstream education. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, respectful, and aspirational setting for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual SEMH needs
- Supporting pupils in developing emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Working closely with pastoral teams and external agencies to ensure holistic support
Pre-requisites:
- Relevant teaching or instructor qualifications (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches
- Two education or care-based references
