About the role:
Justteachers is working in partnership with a specialist independent provision in the Cambridge area to recruit a full-time SEN Teacher starting in September 2026. This is a long-term, temporary to permanent position for the right candidate.
The setting supports pupils aged 5–19 with Autism and associated needs, including social communication difficulties, sensory processing needs and behaviours that may challenge. The provision is highly structured, with a strong emphasis on personalised learning, therapeutic support and preparation for adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver highly adapted, engaging lessons tailored to pupils with Autism and complex needs
- Implement EHCP outcomes, individual learning plans and personalised pathways
- Use structured teaching approaches (e.g. TEACCH, visual supports, low arousal approaches)
- Create a safe, predictable and nurturing classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists (e.g. SALT/OT), and multidisciplinary teams
- Monitor, track and report on pupil progress, adapting provision as required
- Support pupils’ development in communication, independence, and life skills
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
- Experience working with pupils with Autism and SEN, ideally within a specialist or independent setting
- Strong understanding of ASC strategies, behaviour support and communication interventions
- Ability to build positive, consistent relationships with pupils who may have complex needs
- A proactive and reflective approach to teaching and learning
- Two recent education-based references
