About the role: Justteachers are working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Bradford who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students in a meaningful way and contribute to a nurturing learning environment. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting their academic, emotional, and social development. You’ll collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored interventions and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism and other SEND needs.
- Assist in the implementation of EHCPs and personalised learning plans.
- Support classroom activities and adapt materials to meet individual needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals as needed.
- Monitor and record student progress and contribute to review meetings.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly autism.
- Understanding of strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.
- Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
