Justteachers are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work within an onsite provision at a welcoming primary school in Bradford. This role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, and learning difficulties within a specialised provision designed to provide targeted support in a nurturing environment. Positions are available for immediate start (ASAP) as well as September 2026, offering flexibility for candidates at different stages of availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within the onsite provision
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and positive manner
- Promote emotional well-being and social development
- Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
- Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals
Pre-requisites
- Previous experience working with children with SEND (school-based or similar)
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Team player with a proactive attitude
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification) desirable but not essential
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
