About the role:

Justteachers are working with a Bradford Primary school to appoint a Pastoral and Nurture Support Worker. This is a full-time role to commence in September 2026; however, an earlier start is possible. The school are looking for this to become permanent.

The Pastoral & Nurture Support Worker will work closely with teachers and the SENDCo to provide targeted pastoral and specialist learning-mentor support. This is a hands-on role designed to help children overcome barriers to learning so they can access the curriculum and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering daily nurture sessions and check-ins to help pupils self-regulate and settle into school.
  • Supporting small groups and individuals with social, emotional and mental wellbeing programmes.
  • Liaising regularly with the Headteacher, SENDCo, teachers and families about individual needs and progress.
  • Planning and preparing resources and specialist equipment to support learning and independence.
  • Supervising small groups or classes for short periods, maintaining calm, purposeful learning environments.
  • Keeping accurate records, contributing to reviews and feeding back progress to teachers and leaders.

Pre-requisites:

  • Strong experience supporting primary-age pupils, including those with SEND and additional emotional or behavioural needs.
  • Confidence delivering targeted nurture and behaviour strategies and use of trauma and attachment-informed approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: compassionate, calm under pressure, and able to build trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Good organisational skills, accuracy in record-keeping and confident use of ICT (Word, Excel, email, CPOMs).
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Two school based references.
