About the role

Justteachers are recruiting experienced Behaviour Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across Bradford. These roles are ideal for individuals who have previously worked in behaviour support, pastoral roles, or similar positions within an educational or youth-support setting. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to help students overcome barriers to learning, manage behaviour effectively, and build positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with behavioural, emotional, or social needs in and out of the classroom
  • Implement behaviour plans and strategies to promote positive conduct
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils stay engaged in learning
  • De-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff
  • Monitor, record, and report behaviour concerns or progress
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to encourage personal growth

Pre-requisites

  • Experience working as a Behaviour TA, learning mentor, youth worker, or in a similar support role
  • Strong behaviour-management and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional under pressure
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Confident communication and relationship-building skills
  • Reliability, resilience, and the ability to work well within a team
