A specialist SEND setting in Boston is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with PMLD on a full-time basis, starting ASAP.
The school provides a highly nurturing, sensory-focused environment where pupils are supported with their learning, communication, physical needs, and personal development through individualised programmes.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD, focusing on both learning and care needs.
- Support delivery of sensory-based and experiential learning activities, including tactile, visual, and movement-based approaches.
- Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, ensuring dignity and wellbeing at all times.
- Use specialist communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports to aid interaction and understanding.
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement personalised learning and care plans.
- Promote a safe, calm, and engaging environment, supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and development.
Pre-requisites
- Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, complex needs, or physical disabilities (in schools, care, healthcare, or support settings).
- A patient, nurturing, and flexible approach, with strong attention to individual needs.
- Confidence supporting personal care and mobility needs (training can be provided).
- Understanding of alternative communication methods (e. g., PECS, Makaton) or willingness to learn.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, or equivalent experience.
