SEN Teaching Assistant in Birmingham City Centre for a Primary SEN School.
Start Date: After February Half Term 2026. Ongoing (Potential Temp to Perm for the right candidate).
Contract Type: Full Time, term time only (Part Time considered).
Pay: £89.05 - £100 per day depending on experience (PAYE, no umbrella deductions).
About the role:
justteachers is seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Primary SEN school based in Birmingham City Centre. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a full-time role starting after the February half term on an ongoing basis, with the potential for a temporary to permanent position for the right candidate. Part-time applicants will also be considered. You will be working closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to provide tailored academic and emotional support, either on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. The ideal candidate will be patient, proactive, and confident supporting primary-aged pupils with varying needs.
Key Requirements:
- Support pupils in small group and 1:1 settings with learning and personal development.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
- Promote inclusion, independence, and positive engagement within the classroom.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policy.
- Support pupils with communication and sensory needs where required.
- Proven experience working with children in a school or relevant setting (that can be referenced).
- A minimum of two references covering the past two years, including your most recent employer (education-based references preferred).
