About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a compassionate and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary special needs school in Bedworth. This full‑time role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by providing individualised support to a child with additional needs. The role is to start September 2026 and expected to last until Christmas.
The school caters for pupils with a variety of complex needs, including autism, learning difficulties, communication challenges, and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing, structured, and engaging environment where every child is supported to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for a specific pupil, helping them access learning and develop key skills.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual learning plans (EHCPs).
- Support the pupil’s emotional and social development, using positive behaviour strategies.
- Adapt resources and activities to meet the child’s needs and encourage independence.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally in a school or 1:1 setting.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with strong behaviour management skills.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to supporting the child’s academic and personal development.
- Two relevant references, preferably from an education or care background.
