About the role:
Justteachers is delighted to be working with an innovative secondary school in Barnsley to appoint a committed and passionate History Teacher. This full-time, long-term position will commence from September 2026 and run through to April 2027.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a History specialist to inspire learners, develop their critical thinking skills, and ignite a lasting interest in the past and its relevance today.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured History lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that both supports and challenges students to achieve their best.
- Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to encourage continued development.
- Play an active role in shaping the History department and improving teaching resources.
- Take part in staff meetings, parent consultations, and whole-school events as required.
- Champion the school's values while maintaining high standards of behaviour and academic excellence.
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- A degree in History or a closely related discipline.
- Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4 within a UK secondary school.
- Strong behaviour management and clear, confident communication skills.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
