Justteachers is working with a welcoming school in Shipley to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to start in September. This is a full-time opportunity and would suit a proactive and caring individual who is passionate about supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development within a positive and inclusive school environment. You will be working 1:1 with a Year 2 pupil with an EHCP.
Key Responsibilities
- Support on a 1:1 basis to help the pupil access learning and make progress
- Follow the pupil’s EHCP
- Provide personal care
- Work closely with the class teacher and other staff to deliver targeted support and classroom activities
- Help prepare resources and maintain a calm, safe and engaging learning environment
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage the pupil’s confidence, independence and participation
Pre-requisites
- Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare or support setting
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting learning and development
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Knowledge of strategies supporting pupils with SEND
- Good literacy and numeracy skills and a proactive attitude to classroom support
- Two school-based references
