Job Description

The Just Recruitment Group Ltd is currently recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Operative for their client based in Braintree, Essex.40 hour week (days) working Monday to Friday.

The Facilities Maintenance Operative will help keep the workplace safe, functional, presentable, and compliant by undertaking general maintenance, minor repairs, basic mechanical support tasks, routine inspections, and prompt fault reporting.

Work equipment must be maintained in efficient working order, inspected where required, and used only by people who have appropriate information, instruction and training.

The postholder will support planned preventative maintenance rather than relying solely on reactive repairs, because poorly maintained equipment can create unforeseen hazards and emergency maintenance is harder to control safely.

Planned and controlled maintenance allows safer procedures, better isolation of risks, and reduced exposure for staff and contractors.

The role will be responsible for coordinating contractors required onsite as part of maintenance/ service and Adhoc visits.

The role will also support the onsite Industrial process and production team with- engineering / facility-based tasks and be part of the support the sites apprenticeships with mentoring activities.

Carry out general duties including minor repairs, adjustments, basic carpentry, ironmongery, fixtures and fittings, furniture repairs, shelving, noticeboards, signage, locks, door furniture, and general building fabric tasks.

Maintain clean, safe, and orderly maintenance areas, plant rooms, storage locations, workshops, and equipment stores.

Provide basic mechanical engineering support, such as inspection, adjustment, lubrication, replacement of simple components, basic fault finding, and assistance with mechanical plant or equipment maintenance Applications are welcome from candidates with practical experience in facilities maintenance, estates support, property maintenance, building repairs, workshop support, or a similar handyperson role.

Familiarity with LOTOTO principles, permit-to-work systems, contractor controls, safe isolation arrangements, or controlled maintenance procedures would be beneficial.

Mechanical engineering qualification, apprenticeship, City & Guilds, NVQ, BTEC, HNC, or equivalent practical experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering support.
