The Accounts Payable and Cash Manager is responsible for overseeing cash management and accounts payable operations across Just Group, ensuring effective liquidity management, timely and accurate payments, and adherence to financial controls. The role leads day-to-day operational activities, providing oversight and guidance to team administrators while maintaining a strong control environment and operational resilience. Working closely with the Head of Accounts Payable and Cash Management, the role also supports process improvements, system enhancements, and business change initiatives to increase efficiency, control, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily cash positions, funding, and liquidity across Group bank accounts.
- Oversee cash forecasting and identify funding or surplus cash requirements.
- Ensure supplier and employee payments are processed accurately, promptly, and in line with policy.
- Maintain controls for payment approvals, payee verification, and financial governance.
- Monitor accounts payable performance, payment risks, and key operational metrics.
- Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and internal control standards.
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, banks, and suppliers.
- Investigate and resolve payment, cash management, and process issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, controls, and service delivery.
- Support the Head of Accounts Payable and Cash Management and act as deputy when required.

- Review and approve daily cash management activities and funding decisions.
- Review and approve external payment runs.
- Oversee weekly supplier and employee expense payment cycles.
- Prepare, review, and approve General Ledger journal entries in Oracle.
- Manage month-end accounts payable close activities.
- Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations.
- Complete and document User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system and process changes.
- Monitor workflow queues, payment ageing, and service levels.
- Prepare, maintain, and review process and control documentation.
- Support banking administration activities, including mandates, account maintenance, and related documentation.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in cash management, accounts payable, or wider finance operations.
- Accountancy qualification (qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience) is desirable.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, governance, and risk management.
- Confident using Excel for analysis, reporting, and problem-solving.
- Experience with Oracle or similar finance systems is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
