The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
Work with the Director of Defined Benefits Risk (2nd Line) and the wider Group Risk team in developing and maintaining an appropriate risk management framework and supporting its implementation across the Chief Risk Officer’s organisation for adoption and deployment by the business.
Support the development of the risk team to provide increasingly effective challenge to the business, encouraging high standards of controls and proactive management of risk events. Support other Group Risk team members in delivering the operational risk scenario for use in the Group’s Internal Model and other purposes (such as ORSA and stress testing exercises).
Key Responsibilities
- You will support the Director of Defined Benefits Risk (2nd Line) and wider Group Risk team in developing, educating and embedding Enterprise risk management frameworks, practices, and Risk culture within Just that support our risk appetite and strategic goals.
- You will provide trusted advice to Group Risk colleagues, Executives and senior management on the implications of operational risk in the wider business context.
- You will act as risk partner to those parts of the business assigned to you including attendance at and support of Senior Management Committees (SMC) meetings and associated risk reporting for those parts of the business and associated Group entities.
- You will be responsible for providing pro‑active operational risk advice, support and challenge to 1st Line management across the business, including oversight of the management of risks associated with change initiatives.
- You will support the delivery of the Group’s Internal Model for Operational Risk through the development and maintenance of operational risk scenarios with risk owners and other key stakeholders.
- You will ensure that you and the business partners that you support are proficient in the use of the Group’s risk management system of record and in supporting the business in the identification, assessment and reporting of risks at departmental level.
- When needed, you will engage with the risk management system of record suppliers and ensure that you are sufficiently aware of its functionality to propose and oversee improvements as required.
- You will take responsibility for ensuring you comply with the company’s procedures, policies, guidelines and reporting requirements as well as any relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
What we are looking for
- Externally recognised generic/ broader risk management qualification is essential.
- Externally recognised specialised risk management qualification - e.g. CERM, CORM, PRM, ORM, CERA/FIA is desirable.
- Proven track record of practical experience of implementing and/ or operating risk management processes.
- Significant breadth of experience and knowledge of UK regulated financial services from at least one of the following sectors: pensions, life insurance, general insurance, banking, asset management. Strong life and pensions experience is preferred, but exceptional candidates from other financial sectors would be considered.
- Experience of risk support in change and implementation of large transformation initiatives.
- Proven record of building strong internal partnerships within businesses.
- Experience of Bulk Purchase Annuities / Pension Risk Transfer and/or occupational pensions is highly desirable, but we will consider exceptional candidates who have other experience from adjacent spaces.
- Experience of implementing BoE regulatory requirements for operational risk is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent relationship management skills and knowledge.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, negotiation, presentation and report writing.
- Strong understanding of risk management practices and their application, including operational risk. Ability to identify emerging risk issues and to drive understanding and management.
- Good understanding of regulatory context for operation of risk management, including Solvency 2 requirements and PRA expectations.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking ability, able to interpret information from a number of sources and draw together the ‘big picture’ and bring a strategic perspective.
