The purpose of the Strategic Projects Analyst is to support the strategic vision of the Defined Benefit (DB) Transformation Programme by collaborating with DB business areas, DB Development Teams and DB Data & Integration with a focus on actuarial system enhancements and development.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the Head of Strategic Projects and DB Strategic Projects Actuary on DB Transformation initiatives.
- Work with the DB Strategic Development team to ensure the interoperability of the Pricing and Data platforms.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in DB Pricing and Reinsurance, DB Data and Transitions and DB Operations teams to ensure that model and data structure changes flow through effectively to the wider DB ecosystem.
- Provide ad‑hoc support and expertise on business processes and queries.
- Work alongside senior developers to help implement and enhance solutions.
- Assist with application implementation, and support business users to use solutions appropriately.

- Working towards FIA qualification.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel, and keen interest in developing coding skills.
- Good interpersonal and team working skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Strong technical skills, deep technical knowledge of actuarial concepts, particularly those underlying bulk annuity pricing.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of the DB buy‑in/buy‑out market, life insurance and relevant regulation.
- An understanding of projects in design‑build‑test phases would be beneficial, but not essential.
