Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading architecture and design sessions, ensuring solutions are logical, scalable, and aligned with engineering standards.
  • Drive delivery outcomes, managing sprint execution, resolving technical blockers, and maintaining accountability for quality.
  • Embed a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and structured problem‐solving.
  • Provide hands‐on technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and guiding architecture and system design decisions.
  • Promote engineering best practices and technical standards across teams.
  • Manage and develop teams, including permanent and contingent resources, ensuring alignment, engagement, and performance.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for delivery risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications, providing clear updates for technical and non‐technical audiences.
  • Manage resource allocation, capacity planning, and prioritisation across multiple teams and deliveries.
  • Oversee end‐of‐life systems and technical debt, ensuring timely prioritisation, stakeholder alignment, and delivery of remediation activities.
  • Identify gaps in current practices and drive initiatives to improve throughput, quality, reliability, and documentation, using metrics and structured problem‐solving.
  • Collaborate with Lead Engineers and Architects to ensure alignment with broader technical direction.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience as a senior engineer, architect or technical lead within financial services.
  • Strong technical leadership, staying close to the code to review, challenge and guide real engineering solutions.
  • Deep understanding of modern architecture, system design and complex technical problem‐solving.
  • Track record of driving engineering standards, best practices and consistently high technical quality.
  • Team management experience with experience leading multi‐team delivery across major transformation or large‐scale technical programmes.
  • Skilled in Agile delivery with accountability for sprint outcomes, technical quality and effective stakeholder communications.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for technical and non‐technical audiences.
