This role is in the DB Reinsurance pricing team which is a dedicated reinsurance team within the DB Pricing and Reinsurance function. The purpose of the Reinsurance Pricing team can be broadly split into the following categories:
- Reinsurance pricing for live, large DB quotes
- Execution of new reinsurance contracts
- Analyse and implement changes to existing reinsurance contracts
- Provide actuarial input where required to support management of in force reinsurance business.

Key responsibilities:
- Analyse open market reinsurance pricing for large DB deals, ensuring the terms are accurately built into the pricing model and reflected in pricing metrics
- Support Pricing Committee decision making by preparing pricing metrics on various reinsurance scenarios
- Support execution of new reinsurance contracts, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure reinsurance terms are agreed and understood
- Support Senior Reinsurance Actuaries to prepare written reports to relevant internal committees
- Support Reinsurance Operations and DB Transaction Solutions teams where required with the management of the in force reinsurance business
- Check work of junior team members and support with their learning and development
- Support Senior Reinsurance Actuaries with development projects, proactively driving them forward to ensure they are progressed in line with expected timescales
- Develop a deep technical knowledge of all systems and tools used in DB.
- Continuously look for areas where we can improve – our people have a proactive approach to integrating technology into daily tasks and processes in order to drive innovation and efficiency
- Be curious, proactive and open to new ideas - applicants should demonstrate a track record of adapting to change, embracing technology, learning from experience, and showing resilience in the face of obstacles.
- Carry out detailed pricing analyses to develop deep understanding different reinsurers’ bases
- Develop strong technical skills, for example by learning new coding languages, in order to support the development of models, tools and processes in the team.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in Finance and Reporting and the DB Data and Integration and DB Operations team to ensure that commercial changes flow through effectively to the wider DB ecosystem - such that operational changes are communicated and made when necessary and in a timely fashion.
- Proactively look to improve processes and efficiencies within the DB Reinsurance Pricing team
What we’re looking for:
- Strong technical actuarial knowledge, in particular understanding of bulk annuity pricing and longevity swap reinsurance
- Problem analysis and resolution skills.
- Capable of working collaboratively
- Strong IT skills including Excel and programming languages, and a keen attitude to learn where these skills don’t exist
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Open minded and willing to engage in challenge.
- High degree of understanding of the products and services provided by the Group, the markets, and the regulatory / legal framework that the Group operates within
Experience:
- Experience gained in the Life Insurance or DB Pensions industry
- Experience in the bulk annuity market.
- Actuarial background
- Coding experience is desirable, for example Julia, Python and/or VBA.
