The Head of Corporate & External Reporting is responsible for leading the Group's external financial and regulatory reporting agenda, ensuring the delivery of transparent, high-quality and compliant reporting to shareholders, regulators, customers and other key stakeholders. The role provides leadership across multiple reporting frameworks, including IFRS, US GAAP and Solvency II, and acts as the Group's technical accounting lead, shaping accounting policies and reporting positions in collaboration with Brookfield Wealth Solutions (BWS), external auditors and senior stakeholders.
The role has overall accountability for the Group's principal external reporting outputs, including reporting to BWS, the Group's Annual and Half-Year Reports, statutory accounts, Solvency and Financial Condition Reporting (SFCR), climate and sustainability disclosures, and other regulatory submissions. It also plays a key role in supporting effective governance through the provision of financial reporting insights and high-quality papers to senior management, the Audit Committee and the Board, while driving reporting excellence and continuous improvement across the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and delivery of key external and regulatory reporting, including quarterly US GAAP reporting to Brookfield Wealth Solutions (BWS), the IFRS Half-Year and Annual Report & Accounts, statutory accounts, SFCR, climate and sustainability disclosures, and other regulatory submissions.
- Oversee the consolidation, review and analysis of Group financial results across IFRS, US GAAP and Solvency II, ensuring accuracy, quality and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Provide expert technical accounting guidance on significant transactions, business initiatives and regulatory developments, including the implementation of new accounting and sustainability reporting standards.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies across reporting frameworks, partnering with BWS Group Finance, business stakeholders and external auditors to resolve complex technical matters.
- Build effective relationships across Finance, Actuarial, Risk, Sustainability, Retail and Defined Benefit teams to coordinate reporting activities and ensure consistent messaging and outputs.
- Maintain a robust control environment, ensuring appropriate governance, reconciliations and review processes support the integrity of reported information.
- Lead external audit engagement activities and oversee the preparation of financial reporting papers for senior management, the Audit Committee and the Board.
- Coordinate climate and sustainability reporting requirements across the Group, ensuring disclosures meet regulatory obligations and stakeholder expectations.
- Lead, develop and mentor the Corporate Reporting team, fostering an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Drive process simplification, control enhancement and reporting transformation initiatives, while supporting wider corporate activities including debt issuance, rating agency engagement and other strategic projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience, including leadership of financial reporting, technical accounting or finance functions at a comparable senior level within a complex and regulated organisation.
- Strong technical accounting expertise across IFRS, US GAAP and/or Solvency II, with the ability to interpret and apply complex reporting requirements.
- Proven experience leading external financial and regulatory reporting within a large, regulated organisation.
- Life insurance sector experience, ideally within a multi-GAAP reporting environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change, take ownership of outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic and commercially minded approach.
- Experience managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outputs to demanding deadlines.
- Sound understanding of governance, risk management and financial control frameworks.
- Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of developing high-performing and inclusive teams.
