The Data Analytics Internal Audit Manager enhances internal audit effectiveness through advanced analytics, machine learning, and agentic AI. Partnering with the Group Internal Audit (GIA) team, the role delivers data-driven insights into risk and controls by extracting, transforming, and visualising data from multiple sources. The role holder produces clear, evidence-based analysis, supports the communication of audit findings to stakeholders, and develops dashboards and management information (MI) reports to enable informed decision-making. All work aligns with best practice, audit methodologies, and professional standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert in data analytics, including data modelling, SQL, Power BI, Purview, and related technologies; apply Python/R to automate analysis and enhance audit capability.
- Deliver data analytics support to Internal Audit, generating actionable insights on risk and controls from diverse data sources.
- Contribute to the delivery of GIA strategy through data-driven solutions and innovation.
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting new technologies and developing analytics capabilities.
- Design and deliver dashboards and management information (MI), introducing opportunities for automation and efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure effective data governance and manage multiple analytics projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Align all activities with audit methodology, best practice, and professional standards.
Examples of Key Activities:
- Administer and maintain TM+ for Internal Audit, ensuring alignment with audit processes.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, visualisations, and MI to support audit outcomes and operational metrics.
- Collaborate with audit teams to understand requirements and deliver relevant data solutions.
- Source, transform, and analyse data from multiple systems; perform data profiling, quality assessments, and exploratory analysis.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and risk indicators through advanced analytics and SQL-based investigation.
- Promote and support the use of AI, including GenAI and LLMs, to enhance audit efficiency and insight generation.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve or automate audit processes; document methodologies to ensure transparency.
- Engage with stakeholders, provide updates, support ad-hoc requests, and contribute to audit engagements and team activities.
What we’re looking for:
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Preferred certifications: CISA, CPA, CIA, Security+, CISSP, or CISM.
- Proven experience in data analytics within audit, risk, or consulting environments.
- Strong technical skills in SQL, Python and/or R, and data visualisation tools such as Power BI (or similar).
- Hands-on experience with data platforms (e.g. Azure Fabric, Power BI, SQL) and working with large, complex datasets.
- Experience developing dashboards and visualisations to communicate insights clearly and effectively.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata management practices.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and enterprise data environments.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, or automation use cases in analytics, audit, or risk contexts.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
