Purpose The Public Credit (PC) team sits within Just Group’s investment function. Its mandate is to (1) deploy capital into the PC markets received from new Bulk Annuity and Individual Annuity policies and (2) evaluate the PC portfolio’s risk profile (credit, liquidity, and responsible investing) and seek sustainable capital generation via back book optimisation. The PC Quant Manager is a new role within the PC team and aligns to the newly formed PC Quantitative pillar that supports the PC Trading & PM Pillar to meet the team’s mandate. The role will be driving the technological enhancements to PC capabilities to enable more systematic (1) evaluation of investment opportunities / risks and This will require strong collaboration with the PC Portfolio Managers and Traders to ensure enhancements meet commercial needs of the front office. Moreover a critical part of the role is idea generation; bringing new analytical techniques to enhance the team’s origination and optimisation capabilities. Additionally, the individual will work closely with wider teams [ALM, Investment Actuarial and Capital Management] in Just to ensure PC models are optimal within the wider Just technological eco system. Examples of Key Activities Design and implement robust quantitative analytical models which will act as the foundation to PC’s TAA framework Build and maintain an optimisation model that harnesses TAA framework in combination with Just’s in force portfolio and balance sheet metrics Perform comprehensive market analysis using statistical methods Integrate PC’s models into wider Just tech framework Work with Head Of Public Credit to select and integrate a Portfolio Management System into PC’s trading and PM activities Present analytical findings to key stakeholders Staying abreast of quant developments and feeding into the business Engage in tasks across the investment function and work with other quants to knowledge share Skills & Knowledge Excellent analytical capabilities with the ability to sense check numbers, perform quick “back of the envelope” calculations and build intuition over results Strong team player and presenter Strong programming capabilities; preferably in Python and VBA [4+ years of demonstrable experience] Strong understanding of statistical analysis and machine learning Strong knowledge of fixed income products and associated financial market dynamics Good understanding of Defined Benefit pension schemes and/or Solvency II for Life Insurers Previous experience in creating/validating pricing, risk and analytical models in an enterprise analytical platform Front-Office experience working in a fast-paced environment Good understanding of API/SQL/databases Experience Around 5 years’ experience in quantitative modelling and analysis, preferably with a focus in fixed income and more specifically Investment Grade credit Demonstrable experience in Programming capabilities Several years of experience in investment Qualifications Essential for the role University Degree or ideally Masters’ Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field CQF or similar CFA or similar Why Just?
