Purpose
This role involves providing pricing and actuarial input to support the delivery of the DB Business Plan, including all BAU activities and ad hoc tasks.
Job Role Accountabilities
- Support the DB Pricing Actuary in delivering accurate and timely new business quotations.
- Build and operate pricing models to calculate premiums, data manipulation, assumptions setting, and pricing metrics calculation.
- Review drafts of internal sign-off documents prepared by DB Actuarial Analysts, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Review initial drafts of external quotation documents.
- Coordinate with DB Actuarial Analysts and the DB Pricing Actuary to transition outsourced quotes and finalize deliverables.
- Drive projects proactively to meet deadlines.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of all systems and tools used in DB pricing.
- Support ad hoc tasks such as data analysis, proposition development, system testing, and process improvements.
- Assist in developing junior team members.
- Promote a collaborative and engaged team culture.
Qualifications
Working towards FIA qualification or have ceased pursuing actuarial exams; strong progress is desirable.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in IT, especially Excel.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of technical actuarial concepts, especially bulk annuity pricing principles.
- Knowledge of the DB buy-in/buy-out market, life insurance, and relevant regulations.
Experience
Experience in pensions, investment consultancy, life insurance, or reinsurance. Coding experience (e.g., Julia, Python, VBA) is a plus.
