About this role
We’re looking for a Senior FinOps Team Lead/Technology Manager to join our Cloud Centre of Excellence team here at Just Eat Takeaway (JET). Reporting to the Director of Cloud Platform, you will be crucial in implementing a global cloud strategy to ensure reliability, efficiency, and governance across cloud environments.
The position requires technical and analytical leadership, the ability to influence across the organisation, and strategic decision-making to align cloud capabilities with company-wide tech goals. You will drive engineering excellence and collaborate to ensure the cloud platform serves both engineering and business needs.
This role involves navigating complex and evolving environments to deliver technical and organisational transformation. As a new capability, you will enhance existing cloud features and develop new ones, offering a significant opportunity for personal and professional growth in shaping the company\’s future technology platform.
Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from London, Bristol or Amsterdam office & 2 days working from home
Reporting to: Director – Cloud Centre of Excellence
These are some of the key components to the position:
- Drive Global Impact: Ensure cloud environments align with company-level Platform objectives and deliver key results in cost optimization, architecture, and governance.
- Develop Cloud Configuration Tooling: Create the necessary tooling and automation to achieve Cloud Platform goals at scale, balancing operational excellence, innovation, and velocity.
- Support FinOps & Communication: Address the FinOps needs of a global engineering organisation and communicate effectively with stakeholders on project status and roadmap efforts.
- Contribute to Global Cloud Strategy: Collaborate with the Infrastructure leadership team to define and execute a long-term technical strategy for cloud practices, ensuring alignment across geographies and business functions.
- Promote Modern Architecture: Drive best practices, automation, and tooling to enhance cloud efficiency in a multi-region environment.
- Optimise CCoE Teams: Develop and optimise CCoE teams across regions by setting clear priorities and ensuring efficient execution.
- Champion Talent & Culture: Own the talent lifecycle, driving hiring, retention, and development, while fostering a psychologically safe, inclusive, and collaborative engineering culture.
- Establish Global Standards: Define and drive the adoption of global cloud standards, hold teams accountable for technical strategy, and partner with engineers for continuous innovation.
What will you bring to the team?
- Demonstrated background in FinOps with a deep understanding of its principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Significant experience in an infrastructure or engineering role, having evolved into a FinOps specialisation. This isn\’t a finance or purely analytical role; a strong engineering mindset is crucial
- Experience in developing and executing a FinOps engineering strategy and plan
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally within complex, large-scale environments
- Strong track record of building and leveraging internal partnerships to achieve organisational goals.
- Direct experience managing and optimizing significant cloud infrastructure budgets
- Experience with AWS Cloud Platform (GCP & Azure are desirable)
- Knowledge and experience with cloud security and compliance
- Extensive experience presenting and communicating complex information effectively to Senior Leadership Teams (SLT)
