Overview

As an Android Engineer in the Grocery & Retail domain, you will join a collaborative, cross-functional team in the catalogue enablement area.

The role involves delivering features that enable seamless experiences for customers and grocery partners, working with teams across London, Berlin, Bristol, and Amsterdam to drive impact at scale.

You will partner with product owners, web and mobile engineers, and backend teams to design and deliver new features, refine existing ones, improve performance, and build robust, scalable solutions that support millions of customers.

Responsibilities

  • Product Definition: Collaborate with engineering teams and Product Managers to contribute to defining new product features.
  • Technical Ownership: Consistently deliver high-quality software that adheres to team best practices and expectations.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of components you develop, manage timelines, and communicate progress transparently to the wider team and organization.
  • Cross-Functional

Communication: Share progress and ideas with your team and contribute to the growth of the Android guild by sharing new development practices, patterns, and standards.

Ensure changes are supported through to production and remain maintainable over time.

Qualifications

  • Strong development experience using Kotlin, including integration and unit testing.
  • Strong understanding of Android architecture (multi-modules, Dependency Injection, MVVM).
  • Proficiency in building user interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
  • Proven experience integrating with server-side APIs within a Microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of developing software using isolated and reusable components.
  • Keen eye for code design, prioritising efficiency and readability.
  • Knowledge and experience with experimentation and A/B testing.
  • Able to work independently, taking responsibility for the technical delivery of key initiatives within a workstream.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
