An excellent new job opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Clinical/Forensic Psychologist to work in an exceptional mental health hospital based in the Thatcham, Berkshire area. You will be working for one of the UK's leading health care providers. The combination of medium secure and low secure units and rehabilitation flats at the hospital provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering patients in their recovery and rehabilitation.

To be considered for this position you must be registered with the HCPC, BPS accredited and a Chartered Member of the BPS.

As the Principal Psychologist your key responsibilities include:

  • Autonomous in managing your own caseload, which will involve working with complex service-users.
  • Attending regular clinical and service development meetings, such as MDT's, CPA's, referrals, and other hospital-wide meetings.
  • An integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team on Male LD MSU.
  • Providing both long & short-term work, which includes being able to undertake clinical assessments to determine clinical needs & treatment plans.
  • Providing both individual and group work to the patients.
  • Maintaining monthly clinical supervision as well as regular line-management supervision.

The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:

  • Experience (either pre-training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area.
  • Competency in psychological assessment and formulation skills and an aptitude for learning new assessment methods.
  • Competency as regards risk assessment/management tools and formulation.
  • Experience using CBT and/or other Psychological Models to address a range of clinical and/or forensic issues.
  • An awareness of other modalities and how they may be applied to the current service user population.

The successful Psychologist will receive an excellent salary of £46,800 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours a week. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:
