Roofing Tutor/Trainer (Waterproofing and/or Sheeting and Cladding) in Walsall

About The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled roofer to join our team as a tutor/skills coach. In this role, you will deliver engaging training sessions, assess occupational competency, and support the development of apprentices and students in either waterproofing or sheeting & cladding disciplines. Your contribution will be vital in ensuring high attendance, retention, and achievement rates.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Delivery

• Plan and deliver engaging, effective training sessions for groups of apprentices and students.
• Develop and implement training programs that lead to successful outcomes.
• Conduct off‑the‑job training workshops and study programme sessions.
• Monitor and manage individual learning plans (ILPs) to track apprentice progress.
• Ensure training delivery aligns with employer needs and industry standards.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Conduct initial assessments and set challenging yet achievable targets.
• Assess student/apprentice portfolios and provide constructive feedback.
• Conduct regular reviews of progress and document findings.
• Facilitate workplace visits to support apprentices in achieving their qualifications.
• Prepare apprentices for end‑point assessment (EPA) using the NOCN RUBRIC platform.

Student Engagement & Retention

• Ensure student and apprentice attendance and retention targets are met.
• Provide ongoing support to help students develop essential English and maths skills.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Performance & Targets

• Work towards set performance targets to meet contractual obligations.
• Maintain high standards of training delivery and assessment.

What We’re Looking For

• Relevant industry experience in roofing (waterproofing and/or sheeting & cladding).
• Recognised teaching or training qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Passion for training and development with the ability to motivate learners.
