About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate and engaging Maths Tutor to join our team at Juniper. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver high-quality teaching to young people aged 16–18. You’ll support learners to achieve Functional Skills and GCSE Maths, helping them build confidence and progress into further education or employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Learning
    • Deliver engaging, innovative group sessions in Maths (Functional Skills & GCSE)
    • Plan lessons tailored to curriculum standards and individual learner needs
    • Embed knowledge, skills and behaviours into sessions
    • Enhance learning through enrichment activities and external speakers
    • Provide cover for other tutors where required
  • Assessment & Progress
    • Conduct initial assessments and develop individual support plans
    • Mark and assess work, providing constructive feedback (including SPaG)
    • Track learner progress through reviews, mock exams and assessments
    • Prepare learners for exams and support exam readiness
    • Apply for access arrangements and invigilate exams where appropriate
  • Student Support & Engagement
    • Build positive relationships to engage and retain learners
    • Provide high-quality CEIAG and SEND support
    • Identify barriers to learning and implement effective interventions
    • Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive environment
  • Attendance, Targets & Administration
    • Monitor and follow up attendance to meet retention targets
    • Work towards performance and funding targets
    • Maintain accurate documentation in line with requirements
  • Safeguarding
    • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all learners
    • Promote British Values and prevent radicalisation
    • Adhere to safeguarding, Prevent, and equality policies

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Teaching qualification (Level 3 or willingness to work towards within 6 months)
  • Experience delivering engaging group sessions
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage young people
  • IT competent

Desirable

  • Level 3 (or above) in Maths
  • Level 4/5 Teaching Qualification
  • Experience with 16–18 learners
