We are looking for a Practice Accountant to join our team. This is a varied role with exposure to all aspects of general practice, ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients and taking ownership of their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies (FRS 102 / FRS 105)
- Preparation and submission of Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns
- VAT return preparation and compliance
- Bookkeeping and management accounts preparation
- Liaising directly with clients to provide advice and resolve queries
- Supporting clients with cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Dealing with HMRC correspondence
About You
- AAT qualified, or ACA / ACCA part-qualified or qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Good working knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, and tax compliance
- Experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses
- Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
- Familiarity with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Able to manage workload and meet deadlines independently
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with payroll processing
- Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
- Experience using software such as IRIS, TaxCalc, or similar
