Responsibilities
- Plan and execute structured and exciting activities that encourage maximum participation, such as multi‑sports, games, arts and crafts, structured play, and more, ensuring they are age‑appropriate.
- Follow all Health and Safety protocols and policies, including signing in and out processes.
- Provide refreshments for the children.
- Create an inclusive and fun atmosphere for the children in our care, from picking them up from school to safely delivering them back to their parents or caregivers.
- Collaborate with the team to plan and execute structured and exciting activities that encourage maximum participation.
- Ensure all activities are age and skill‑appropriate while prioritizing safety.
- Serve refreshments for the kids while maintaining high standards of hygiene and health and safety.
- Set up and pack away play spaces, moving furniture and play equipment as needed.
- Keep all relevant documentation, including accident and incident forms, up to date and completed as needed.
- Ensure proper sign‑in and sign‑out processes and procedures are followed for all children in our care.
- Communicate professionally and authentically with team members, parents, children, and schools.
- Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks for all equipment and kit.
- Take the lead in championing health and safety, providing first aid where necessary.
- Keep all information and documents related to the children in our care confidential and secure.
- Inspire our team members and the children in our care to have fun, be active, and lead an active lifestyle.
Qualifications Required:
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Reliable, responsible, and organised approach to work with meticulous attention to detail.
- Genuine passion for childcare and playwork, with a positive, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude.
- Ability to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where children can thrive.
- Sound understanding of health and safety principles and safeguarding requirements.
- Ability to manage groups of children and promote positive behaviour.
- Energy, creativity, and flexibility in approach to problem‑solving.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare, playwork, activity leader, or similar role.
- First Aid certification or willingness to undertake training.
- Knowledge of child development and age‑appropriate activities.
- Experience in modelling positive behaviour and supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
- Familiarity with holiday club or summer camp environments.
