Join us as a Childcare Activity Leader, creating fun, safe, and engaging experiences for children during the summer holidays.

Location: Esher, Surrey

Hours: 8.15am - 5.45pm, Monday - Friday

Pay: £12.71

Contract: Casual Contract

Childcare Activity Leader Summer Camp - starting 20th July 2026 for 6 weeks

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute structured and exciting activities that encourage maximum participation, such as multi-sports, games, arts and crafts, structured play, and more ensuring they are age-appropriate.
  • Follow all Health and Safety protocols and policies, including signing in and out processes.
  • Provide refreshments for the children.

  • Create an inclusive and fun atmosphere for the children in our care, from picking them up from school to safely delivering them back to their parents or caregivers.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and execute structured and exciting activities that encourage maximum participation.
  • Ensure all activities are age and skill-appropriate while prioritising safety.
  • Provide refreshments for the kids while maintaining high standards of hygiene and health and safety.
  • Set up and pack away play spaces, moving furniture and play equipment as needed.
  • Follow all Health and Safety protocols and policies and keep all relevant documentation up to date.
  • Ensure proper sign-in and sign-out processes and procedures are followed for all children in our care.
  • Communicate professionally and authentically with team members, parents, children, and schools.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks for all equipment and kit.
  • Take the lead in championing health and safety, providing first aid where necessary.
  • Keep all information and documents related to the children in our care confidential and secure.
  • Inspire our team members and the children in our care to have fun, be active, and lead an active lifestyle.

Required:

  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Reliable, responsible, and organised approach to work with meticulous attention to detail
  • Genuine passion for childcare and playwork, with a positive, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude
  • Ability to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where children can thrive
  • Sound understanding of health and safety principles and safeguarding requirements
  • Ability to manage groups of children and promote positive behaviour
  • Energy, creativity, and flexibility in approach to problem-solving

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare, playwork, activity leader, or similar role
  • First Aid certification or willingness to undertake training
  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
  • Experience in modelling positive behaviour and supporting children's emotional wellbeing
  • Familiarity with holiday club or summer camp environments
