Holiday Club Activity Leader - Claygate, Esher Surrey

  • Position type: Part‑time
  • Location: Esher, Surrey
  • Hours: 8:15 am – 5:45 pm, Monday‑Friday
  • Pay: £12.71 per hour
  • Contract: Casual

Join us as a Childcare Activity Leader and create fun, safe and engaging experiences for children during the summer holidays. The role starts 20th July 2026 and runs for six weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute structured and exciting activities that encourage maximum participation, such as multi‑sports, games, arts and crafts, structured play, and more, ensuring they are age‑appropriate.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols and policies, including signing‑in and signing‑out processes and maintaining all relevant documentation.
  • Provide refreshments for the children while maintaining high standards of hygiene and health and safety.
  • Set up and pack away play spaces, moving furniture and equipment as required.
  • Communicate professionally and authentically with staff, parents, children and schools.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks for all equipment and kit.
  • Take the lead in championing health and safety, including providing first aid where necessary.
  • Ensure all information and documents related to the children are kept confidential and secure.
  • Inspire children to be active and lead an active lifestyle.

Required Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong communication and people skills, with ability to engage effectively with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Reliable, responsible and organised approach to work, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Passion for childcare and playwork, with a positive, enthusiastic and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment where children can thrive.
  • Sound understanding of health and safety principles and safeguarding requirements.
  • Ability to manage groups of children and promote positive behaviour.
  • Energy, creativity and flexibility in problem‑solving.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare, play‑work, activity leader or similar role.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to undertake training.
  • Knowledge of child development and age‑appropriate activities.
  • Experience in modelling positive behaviour and supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with holiday club or summer camp environments.

We are required to obtain an enhanced DBS check; this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
