Holiday Club Activity Leader - Claygate, Esher Surrey

- Hours: 8:15 am – 5:45 pm, Monday‑Friday
- Pay: £12.71 per hour

Join us as a Childcare Activity Leader and create fun, safe and engaging experiences for children during the summer holidays. The role starts 20th July 2026 and runs for six weeks.

Responsibilities
- Plan and execute structured and exciting activities that encourage maximum participation, such as multi‑sports, games, arts and crafts, structured play, and more, ensuring they are age‑appropriate.
- Follow all health and safety protocols and policies, including signing‑in and signing‑out processes and maintaining all relevant documentation.
- Provide refreshments for the children while maintaining high standards of hygiene and health and safety.
- Set up and pack away play spaces, moving furniture and equipment as required.
- Communicate professionally and authentically with staff, parents, children and schools.
- Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks for all equipment and kit.
- Take the lead in championing health and safety, including providing first aid where necessary.
- Ensure all information and documents related to the children are kept confidential and secure.
- Inspire children to be active and lead an active lifestyle.
Required Qualifications
- Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
- Strong communication and people skills, with ability to engage effectively with children, parents and colleagues.
- Reliable, responsible and organised approach to work, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Passion for childcare and playwork, with a positive, enthusiastic and proactive attitude.
- Ability to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment where children can thrive.
- Sound understanding of health and safety principles and safeguarding requirements.
- Ability to manage groups of children and promote positive behaviour.
- Energy, creativity and flexibility in problem‑solving.
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare, play‑work, activity leader or similar role.
- First Aid certification or willingness to undertake training.
- Knowledge of child development and age‑appropriate activities.
- Experience in modelling positive behaviour and supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
- Familiarity with holiday club or summer camp environments.
We are required to obtain an enhanced DBS check; this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
