Jungle Creations is actively seeking a Junior Social Executive to join our fast-paced Editorial Team. The individual will be tasked with sourcing, packaging, and sharing content across our platforms that captivates and engages our audience. With millions of visitors to our websites each month, we are looking for a skilled Junior Social Executive who is passionate about crafting engaging content that resonates with the audiences of our biggest brands — VT, our flagship news and entertainment platform, and Four Nine, our women-led 'voice of a generation' brand.
The Junior Social Executive will be a key member of our dedicated Editorial team, reporting directly to both the Senior Social Executive and Head of Editorial. This role involves identifying trends and popular stories, monitoring website traffic, and analysing article performance to ensure our content consistently engages our audience. Beyond sourcing the very best stories of the day, we are looking for someone with a passion for social media and driving engagement and traffic - ideally with a strong US focus and interest in US politics.
This individual will support our team ambitions to diversify website traffic and continue the trajectory for one of the biggest-growing platforms for Jungle. The Junior Social Executive will be able to craft compelling thumbnails and titles while distributing articles across multiple social media platforms. These articles should be 'must-click' and encourage our readers to react, comment, and share. The ideal candidate must also uphold strict editorial standards, ensuring all content complies with copyright laws, platform-specific social media guidelines, and our in-house style guide.
Success in this role requires thriving in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to create engaging content quickly, but always maintaining a high attention to detail and without compromising on standards. This role is perfect for someone who excels at meeting daily targets and deadlines and is eager to contribute to the broader vision of the Editorial Team as well as broadening our approach to news coverage with original ideas and content with headlines that other publications don't have.
Due to the nature of the role, some weekend shifts will be required, along with a willingness to cover BREAKING news stories outside regular hours, including evenings, for major global events - although this time will be compensated in lieu.
Job Requirements
- Experience in digital journalism preferable - particularly within news and entertainment sectors - and creating social-first content.
- A passion for social media and being able to spot trending stories and create engaging posts.
- Have a strong understanding of media and copyright laws, as well as social media guidelines.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, such as a newsroom, and being able to work and produce content independently.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional command of written English, with the ability to create compelling titles and captions.
- Proficiency in using CMS platforms like WordPress.
- Profound knowledge of major social media platforms and content management tools like Meta Business Suite.
- Strong skills in creating engaging social media titles and visuals in platforms like Canva.
- Ability to utilize analytical and tracking tools like Google Analytics and Chartbeat.
Bonus Points
- Relevant experience in social media and content creation is highly valued.
Job Responsibilities
- Sourcing the very best trending stories or breaking news for the day.
- Comply with media and copyright laws, social media community guidelines, and ensure content is free from false or misleading information.
- Possess a strong eye for detail - ensuring that all content sourced is accurate and follows our Editorial Guidelines. This will include safeguarding against copyright, ethical, and other guideline issues.
- Faultless fact-checking abilities - with the ability to identify fake news or misinformation.
- Package all articles so that they are as engaging as possible when shared to our social media channels. Think eye-catching social images, leading captions, and attention-grabbing headlines.
- Monitor website traffic using Google Analytics.
- Report back to the Head of Editorial and Senior Social Editor with daily updates.
