We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and ambitious Deputy Operations Manager to support the Operations Manager in the day to day management of Junction 38, our dedicated Truckstop on the M6. This is a development role so we are looking for people able to proactively develop themselves as a stepping stone to an Operations Manager role.
Responsibilities
- Managing the Catering and Retail teams to deliver excellent product quality and customer service in line with the Westmorland brand.
- Day to day management including colleague development, rotas, budget analysis and setting, cost management and profit control.
- Lead, coach and develop the management team, setting goals and objectives in line with the goals and objectives of the site.
- Assist the Operations Manager in formulation of goals and objectives for the site and the management team, regularly reviewing progress and offering guidance and support as appropriate.
- Inspire, coach and develop the Service Leaders to achieve all site KPI’s including sales targets, cost management and turnover.
- Manage day to day people matters as they arise including employment matters, resource planning and managing and leading the team effectively and in line with the Westmorland behaviours.
- Support the Operations Manager and Head Office with project work as necessary.
- Work with Operations Managers to identify and share ideas, best practice and potential process improvements.
- Foster great communication on site between colleagues and managers and specifically between Filling Station and Kitchens to maximise delivery of the best customer experience.
- Foster great communication with central teams to assist in the delivery of all company initiatives including seasonal and promotional product activities.
- Work with the People team to recruit the right people into our business, train and supervise all colleagues to achieve their best possible performance in their role.
- Assist the Operations Manager in the management of site health and safety of colleagues and customers and food safety compliance.
Qualifications
- You will be an experienced operator with experience working in a fast paced, service led environment; ideally in a food, hospitality or retail business.
- Extensive people management experience is required as is the ability to communicate well at all levels across the business.
- You should have a people first approach and the down to earth personality to foster an environment of teamwork and positive colleague relations as well as the influencing skills to make things happen.
- You should be hands on, proactive and innovative with the ambition and drive to achieve goals, budgets and objectives set by the business.
- You will need strong time management skills, the ability to multi task and strong problem solving skills.
- Experience building, leading and developing a team would be an advantage as well as knowledge of food safety legislation.
