What You Will Be Doing
You will be representing CancerCare, one of South Cumbria and North Lancashire's leading providers of free support to people of all ages affected by cancer and bereavement. As a part-time lottery canvasser, you will go door-to-door in local neighbourhoods within Barrow-In-Furness and the surrounding areas, speaking with residents about the weekly lottery. The funds raised through the lottery provide vital support to the local charity, and your role is to explain how the lottery works, sign up new supporters and raise awareness of the charity and the important work they do. By building friendly, positive relationships, you will help raise essential funds for the charity to enable the amazing team to continue offering their services free of charge to individuals and families around the region.
What success looks like: You consistently grow CancerCare’s weekly lottery supporter base by meeting agreed targets for new sign-ups (per shift/week), conversion rate from conversations to sign-ups, and accurate, compliant supporter sign-up details (no returned forms), helping increase ongoing funds raised for CancerCare.
Required
- Excellent communication skills – engaging with the public, explaining the charity's cause, and encouraging participation
- Self-motivated and resilient - comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and own transport (mileage is covered by the company)
Preferred:
- Door-to-door sales/fundraising experience (not essential - a structured training programme will be provided)
Salary: £12.21 per hour basic + commission
Working Pattern: 20 hours per week, flexible to work around your schedule. Please note: You must be available to work some evenings to accommodate canvassing times.
