JUMBO Consulting Group (part of Turner & Townsend) is an international procurement and contracts management consultancy, specialising in the development and construction of major clean energy projects. We are hiring a Principal Consultant to join our UK team, to work on a pipeline of onshore renewable energy and nuclear projects. The focus will include onshore wind, solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), grid and transmission infrastructure, and emerging nuclear opportunities including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). This is a high-impact role and will play a significant part in building out our UK onshore energy and nuclear capability during an exciting period of sector growth.
As a Principal Consultant, you will:
- Work on some of the most significant onshore clean energy and nuclear programmes in the UK.
- Deliver procurement and contracts management advice that makes a tangible difference to major projects.

Technical Competencies / Expectations:
- Provide specialist procurement and contracts strategy advice to developers, utilities, investors and public sector clients in the onshore clean energy and nuclear sectors.
- Manage and collaborate with a team on end-to-end procurement services for major projects and programmes – from strategy development through tender, award and contract administration.
- Support the continued development of JUMBO’s UK clean energy and nuclear service offering, working closely with the Turner & Townsend team.
- Support business development, marketing and client engagement across JUMBO’s UK proposition.
- Support bid preparation and proposal documentation, and contribute to the work-winning capability of both JUMBO and Turner & Townsend.
- Ability to develop and execute procurement strategy and management within complex projects and programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Understanding of commercial principles and modelling.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience of leading and/or supporting projects in a strategic procurement environment, ideally within the renewables, energy or major infrastructure sectors.
- A strong background in tender preparation and the development of procurement documentation in relevant sectors, including design of the process and preparation of key tender and contract documents.
- Experience of leading and/or supporting supplier engagement activities across the renewables or energy supply chain, from early market engagement through to contract award.
- Working knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations, Utilities Contracts Regulations or equivalent procurement regimes relevant to UK energy and infrastructure projects.
- Experience of using a range of standard and bespoke contract forms – including NEC, JCT, FIDIC and/or bespoke EPC agreements – covering drafting, negotiation, award and administration.
- Have achieved – or is working towards/willing to work towards – MCIPS accreditation or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Preferably a degree in a relevant discipline – procurement, law, quantity surveying, engineering (civil, electrical, mechanical), energy, or construction.
- Preferably possess experience working in onshore wind, solar PV, BESS, grid and transmission infrastructure, nuclear (including SMRs), or other major energy and utilities programmes.
- Security Clearance (SC) – currently valid, or eligible to be obtained or reinstated – is desirable given the nuclear and critical national infrastructure nature of the work.
