Every moment counts. Every memory matters.
Julia’s House is looking for a compassionate and skilled Complementary Therapist to support children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your therapeutic skills to promote comfort, relaxation and wellbeing, helping to create moments of calm, connection and support when they are needed most.
Working as part of the Complementary Therapy Team and wider Family Support Team, alongside colleagues and volunteers, you will provide safe, high-quality complementary therapy treatments in the hospice and in family homes. You will assess referrals, plan and deliver individualised sessions, and tailor your approach to the needs of each child, young person, parent, carer or sibling.
This role will primarily be based at our Wiltshire hospice in Devizes, with an expectation for exceptional travel to family homes and to provide occasional cover at our Dorset hospice in Corfe Mullen during periods of absence. You may also be required to attend meetings and provide support at different Julia’s House locations as needed.
The successful candidate will hold a Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology and be qualified in massage plus at least one other complementary therapy, such as aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, Reiki or mindfulness. You will also need current liability insurance and membership of a recognised professional therapist body.
You will have a minimum of three years’ experience and ideally experience of working with children or young people with complex needs. You will be calm, professional and sensitive in your approach, with the confidence to work with families in their own homes and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. Please see the Person Specification and Job Description for full details of this role.
To meet the needs of the children, young people and families we support, flexibility will be required. Our service runs seven days a week, so hours may include evenings, weekends and school holidays. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use are essential, and all appointments are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
