# Management Accountant (9-Month Fixed-Term Contract)Location: CardiffAt Hodge, we put people at the heart of our business and that means our customers, colleagues and communities. Hodge is a Welsh financial service provider that focus on real estate finance, and specialist residential mortgage markets.This role will support the Management Accounting Manager to manage, develop and motivate the Management Accounting team to maximise both individual and team performance and to ensure that objectives are achieved. Support junior team members in their daily tasks and provide coaching for their development.Ensure the accurate and timely production of financial and management information to the Leadership Team to support the achievement of the business plan and strategic objectives. Ensuring the finance systems are well managed and maintained in an accurate and timely manner at all times.## Essential Experience* Experience within a management accounting team* Partially or fully qualified accountant – ACA/ACCA/CIMA or an equivalent qualification**Key responsibilities will include:*** Responsible for assisting the Management Accounting Manager to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manners.* Ensure all reconciliations are prepared, reviewed and actioned within a reasonable timeframe for The Carlyle Trust Limited and its subsidiaries, including Julian Hodge Bank Limited. Ensure a record of all month end reconciliations are maintained and are ready for review by management.* Support with the production of the management accounts, with appropriate commentary, in accordance with company procedures. Support with the review of the management accounts and ensure there is accuracy in both the underlying data and commentary. Ensure sound understanding of underlying factors that are driving the results.* Assist in the preparation of management reports.* Assist with Treasury back office processing ensuring both controls and segregation of duties are maintained.* Support with relevant project work when required ensuring tasks are followed through to an acceptable finish.Taxation* Work closely with professional advisors to ensure tax payments and returns are completed in a timely and accurate manner.Processes and control* Establish, maintain and review operating policies and job cards (systems of internal control) to ensure that they are sufficiently robust to adequately safeguard the Group’s assets and where weaknesses are identifying ensure remedial action is taken in a timely manner.* Understand the output of the department, putting in place controls and reconciliations to ensure accounting discrepancies are identified and take ownership of issues through to a satisfactory conclusion.* Support the risk culture of the organisation by taking personal responsibility for identifying and managing risks in everything you do.Other* Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.* Undertake any other reasonable tasks as and when requested by the Management Accounting Manager or Group Financial Controller.*Please be aware that should we pursue your application, all our Financial Services employees will be expected to complete background checks to assess suitability for employment, these include; a criminal record, identity, sanctions, adverse finance, fraud prevention and reference checks to comply with our regulatory requirements.**Hodge is an advocate of being an equal opportunities employer, We believe in promoting equality and diversity which is central to our lives today.
