This role is responsible for the preparation of high-quality Management Accounts and statutory financial statements under FRS 101 for the Group. The postholder will provide IFRS technical expertise across the business, and deliver clear, concise, and high-standard reporting to senior management and the Board.

Essential experience:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts under FRS 101 and IFRS, ideally within a financial services environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting for investments and financial instruments
  • Experience liaising with external audits and dealing with audit firms
  • Technical accounting skills with the ability to interpret complex standards
  • Strong written communication skills, with experience producing Board-level papers
  • Experience in a regulated banking environment
Key responsibilities will include:Financial Reporting
  • Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements for The Carlyle Trust (TCT), and a number of the investment Subsidiaries in accordance with FRS 101, ensuring full compliance with applicable IFRS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete the annual statutory financial statements for the Foundation.
  • Ensure accurate accounting and disclosure of the investment properties, including impairment, interest income recognition, and effective interest rate calculations.
  • Maintain robust supporting documentation and audit trails for all financial disclosures.
  • Review the management account packs of the investment properties and the Foundation.
  • Lead on the preparation of the TCT Group investor Pack whilst working closely with the Head of Finance Business Partnering to provide an insightful pack to the Shareholders and Board.
  • Preparation and completion of FINREP for the Group.
Forecasting
  • Responsible for the Budgeting and ad hoc Forecasting for TCT & Subsidiaries for completion of the 5 year Operation Plan. Complete the Board Pack with supporting information for approval of the plan. Liaise with Business Partners on inputs and assumptions ensuring consistency across the business.
  • Lead stress-testing scenarios for TCT & Subsidiaries Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP). Conduct the completion of the TCT ICAAP submission with support from the Regulatory Reporting team, including insightful narrative for conclusion of the document meeting external regulatory requirements and standards.
Liquidity
  • Help to optimise the cash position of the TCT Group through management of TCT & Subsidiaries cash position including regular dividend recommendations and payments. Following approval process implement the dividend payments.
  • Management of the AJ Bell Corporate dealing account, supporting investments recommendations from dividends and withdrawals to support wider business payments/transactions.
Technical Accounting (IFRS)
  • Serve as an IFRS technical expert, providing guidance on complex accounting issues.
  • Interpret and implement new and amended accounting standards, assessing their impact on the bank.
  • Prepare technical accounting papers and policy documentation for senior stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on accounting for lending products, financial instruments, and related transactions.
Board & Senior Stakeholder Reporting
  • Prepare high-quality Board papers and financial reports, clearly articulating key issues, risks, and judgements.
  • Present complex financial and technical information in a concise and accessible manner for non-technical audiences.
  • Support senior management with insight and analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Pro-active involvement in external audit requests to support TCT Groups audit.
  • Provide Tax Advisors information for completion of the annual corporation tax returns.
Governance & Controls
  • Ensure strong financial reporting controls are in place and operating effectively.
