Job Description
The Role: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. As Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Head Chef to maintain our excellent culinary standards and help lead our kitchen brigade. Comfortable with deputising in their absence, making business decisions and ready to take responsibility for smooth kitchen operations. You'll also have an eye on the behind the scenes requirements from a business point of view, working with suppliers and designing menus to ensure profitability in the kitchen under the guidance of Head Chef who will be looking to prepare you for the next step in your career.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
• Maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
• Assist in menu planning and development, emphasizing local Scottish produce
• Manage and mentor junior kitchen staff
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health & safety standards
• Stock control and inventory management
• Quality control of all dishes leaving the kitchen
• Assist with cost control and budget management
Working Pattern:
• Full-time position
• 45 hours per week
• 5 days out of 7
• Flexibility required for evening and weekend work
Location:
• Caithness, live in available
• Stunning coastal location in the Scottish Highlands
