This senior leadership role will act as the Group’s principal tax advisor, focusing on complex structuring, shareholder-level tax matters, and business partnering at the executive level. This is a forward-looking role focused on transactions, structuring, and decision support—not routine compliance.

Key Responsibilities

    • Lead tax structuring for reorganisations, M&A, financing arrangements, capital planning, and dividend flows.
    • Partner with senior leadership to provide actionable tax advice on cross-border transactions and corporate strategy.
    • Evaluate and guide input from external tax advisors, ensuring alignment with business goals and risk appetite.
    • Monitor UK and international tax developments and assess their strategic implications for the Group.
  • Business Partnering
    • Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO, Head of Tax, and broader leadership team.
    • Embed tax considerations into strategic decisions, commercial models, and operating structures.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Treasury on complex cross-border initiatives.
    • Prepare Board-level analyses and recommendations related to tax, structuring, and governance.
  • HMRC Relationship & Governance
    • Serve as the primary liaison with HMRC for both corporate and shareholder-related matters.
    • Manage complex tax audits, enquiries, and disputes with a calm, authoritative presence.
    • Maintain and enhance the Group’s tax risk management framework, policies, and internal governance.
    • Lead on tax controversy strategy and uphold a high standard of compliance and ethical engagement.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Professionally qualified (CTA, ACA, ATT or equivalent).
  • 12–15+ years of experience in international tax, including structuring, advisory, and UK tax authority engagement.
  • Big 4 or top-tier advisory background at Director or Senior Manager level strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of UK corporate and individual tax regimes, cross-border structuring, and shareholder planning.
  • Proven track record of directly managing HMRC audits and high-stakes tax negotiations.
  • Excellent judgement in balancing technical risk, commercial impact, and reputational considerations.
  • Clear communicator, confident engaging with Boards, senior stakeholders, and regulators.
  • Operates with integrity, discretion, and professionalism at all times.

This is a career-defining opportunity for a commercially astute and technically skilled tax leader who thrives in a fast-paced, international, and privately held environment.
