Altera Infrastructure are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Deck Operator with a scaffolding background to join our dynamic team. This role places you at the heart of a cutting‑edge project, starting with the yard phase in the Dubai Drydocks and transitioning to offshore operation.

On offer is the chance to join a rapidly growing team as part of our safe manning crew working on an equal time (4:4) rotation before moving to a 2:3 rotation for Offshore Operations at the end of project execution.

As part of the crew, you will be integral to the success of our project, contributing to preservation and maintenance activities, as well as supporting various yard work scopes. Our modern FPSO, the Petrojarl Knarr, will be deployed to the Rosebank oil and gas field to produce and store hydrocarbons. The Rosebank development has been optimised to reduce carbon emissions and the FPSO will be prepared for future electrification. The vessel is currently undergoing life extension work, modifications for field specifics and enhanced energy efficiency.

We are looking for our next Deck Operator - with a scaffolding background.

Ensure that the day-to-day activities of the team are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the company HSEQ policies.

Ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and relevant management systems.

Perform duties as assigned by line manager (Deck Foreman).

The Deck Operators/Crew are responsible for carrying out deck operations under the direction of the Deck Foreman, following the relevant procedures and legislation.

  • Carry out lifting and rigging work as and when required.
  • Erect, maintain, and dismantle scaffolding structures safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure scaffolding is stable, secure, and complies with industry safety standards.
  • Carry out routine Work Orders and report into maintenance system.
  • Carry out crane duties as Banksman/Slinger/Load handler.
  • Connection and disconnection of Shuttle Tanker mooring and cargo transfer arrangements.
  • Carry out general deck duties i.e. cleaning, stores delivery & materials handling.
  • Act as Helideck team member.
  • Assist with execution of marine work scopes (Tank Confined Space Entry/Anchor Chains/Crane/etc).
  • Assist other departments professionally and informatively.
  • Act as Work Leader.
  • Proactively participate in Risk Assessments and tool box talks.
  • You will be part of the Emergency Response Team and will be expected to carry out duties in accordance with the asset Emergency Response Plan.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Scaffolder onboard an FPSO.
  • Experience of offshore marine operations / merchant navy background desirable.
  • Knowledge of deck operations and associated safe working practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and apply it in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated experience of helideck operations.
  • Good communications ability (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of safe system of work systems (ePTW) and participating in assessing the risk management.
