Head Chef – Independent School, West London | £39,000–£42,000 | Term-Time Only (35 Weeks) 37.5 hours per week
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join an independent school's in-house catering team, employed directly by the school.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented chef to take ownership of the kitchen, working alongside a friendly and dedicated Catering team to deliver freshly cooked meals for approximately 700 pupils and staff, as well as catering for internal hospitality events.
Reporting to the Catering Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and service. You will also have the freedom to develop creative menus, introduce new ideas and make a real impact on the school's food offering.
The Role
Lead and motivate the kitchen team to deliver consistently high-quality food
Oversee the preparation and service of freshly cooked meals
Develop appealing, varied and seasonal menus for pupils and staff
Manage food ordering, stock control, budgets and minimise waste
Ensure excellent food hygiene, health and safety standards
Support internal hospitality events and occasional evening functions
The Ideal Candidate
Proven experience as a Head Chef or an experienced Senior Sous Chef with a stable work history
Previous experience of working within independent education or high volume kitchen
A genuine passion for fresh food, quality ingredients and menu development
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
Experience managing a busy kitchen and leading a team effectively
Excellent knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety and kitchen procedures
A positive, hands-on approach with a commitment to outstanding customer service

£39,000–£42,000 annual salary (£48.951-£53,793 FTE)

Term-time only – 35 weeks per year.
37.5 hours per week, 7:00am–3:00pm, with occasional evening work.
