We are currently recruiting experienced School Chefs with a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate (on the Update Service) to work across a range of education settings in Grays and Thurrock.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present fresh, nutritious, high-quality meals.
  • Cater for a variety of dietary requirements, allergies, and special diets.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen.
  • Monitor food stock, storage, and minimise waste.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a kitchen team.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain professional standards within education settings.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a chef in schools, colleges, universities, or other DBS-regulated environments.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the DBS Update Service.
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to different kitchen environments.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
  • Experience in education or contract catering.
  • Knowledge of School Food Standards and nutritional guidelines.
  • Experience preparing meals for large numbers of people.
