Company Description

JTS Solutions Ltd is a fast-paced and growing utilities consultancy and operational support business based in Hooton, Cheshire.

We work closely with major utility companies and delivery partners across the UK, providing experienced people and practical support across planning, streetworks, traffic management, operational performance and business improvement.

As the business continues to grow, we are building a strong team of people who are comfortable working in busy operational environments, taking ownership and helping solve problems quickly.

Our teams work directly alongside client operations, helping manage work programmes, improve planning and delivery, strengthen operational controls and provide clear visibility of performance.

Much of our work sits within live utility operations where priorities can change quickly and good communication between planning teams, field teams, contractors, Highway Authorities and clients is essential.

JTS has grown by bringing together people with strong utilities experience who understand how work is planned, promoted, delivered and closed in the real world.

We place a strong emphasis on teamwork, accountability and getting the basics right — safe delivery, good planning, accurate information and strong client service.

Role Description

The Streetworks and Traffic Management Coordinator is a full-time role based at our Hooton, Cheshire office, supporting utility planning and delivery activities.

This is a busy, hands-on role within a growing team.

You will sit closely with our planners and operational teams and will be responsible for coordinating streetworks, permits and traffic management requirements to help ensure work can be delivered safely, compliantly and to programme.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing and managing permit applications, reviewing Highway Authority requirements, coordinating traffic management arrangements and working with planners, operational teams, contractors and local councils to resolve restrictions or issues that could affect delivery.

The role will also involve monitoring works through the planning process, maintaining accurate records within client and internal systems, supporting road closure and diversion requirements and identifying upcoming constraints before they affect the programme.

You will play an important part in keeping work moving — working closely with the wider team to resolve permit, noticing and traffic management issues and helping provide clear information to operational teams and clients.

Responsibilities will include

  • Preparing, submitting and managing streetworks permits and notices.
  • Liaising with Highway Authorities regarding permits, restrictions and works requirements.
  • Coordinating traffic management arrangements, road closures and diversions.
  • Reviewing traffic management plans and identifying potential delivery constraints.
  • Working closely with planning and operational teams to ensure works are ready for delivery.
  • Monitoring permit conditions, dates and compliance requirements.
  • Supporting the resolution of rejected permits, clashes and Highway Authority restrictions.
  • Maintaining accurate information across client systems, trackers and reports.
  • Supporting programme reviews and highlighting risks that may affect planned delivery.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, contractors, councils and internal teams.
  • Supporting improvements to streetworks and planning processes as the operation continues to grow.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience within streetworks, utilities, highways, traffic management or operational planning.
  • Good working knowledge of UK streetworks legislation and Highway Authority requirements.
  • Knowledge of NRSWA, permit schemes and traffic management requirements would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience preparing or managing permit and notice applications.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage several activities and deadlines at the same time.
  • Confident communication skills when dealing with Highway Authorities, clients, contractors and operational teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
  • A practical, problem-solving approach and willingness to take ownership.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to identify issues within work programmes or performance information.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience using utility planning, streetworks or works management systems would be an advantage.
  • Streetworks or traffic management qualifications would be beneficial but are not essential.

We are particularly interested in people who want to be part of a growing business, are comfortable taking responsibility and enjoy working as part of a close team where their contribution can make a visible difference.
