Role Description

We are looking for an Experienced Water Repair & Maintenance Planner to join our planning team at our Hooton office.

This is a full-time, office-based role for somebody who already understands water R&M operations and can confidently manage a busy work programme.

You will be responsible for planning and scheduling repair and maintenance activity, making sure field teams have the right work available and that jobs are planned around priority, geography, resource, customer commitments and operational requirements.

This isn’t simply a diary-management role. You will need to understand the workbank, recognise potential problems before they affect delivery and work closely with operational teams to keep the programme moving.

Day to day, you will be speaking with supervisors, field teams, contractors and other support functions — dealing with changes, reallocating work when circumstances change and making sure the plan remains realistic and deliverable.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule water repair and maintenance work for operational field teams.
• Manage workbanks and prioritise activity based on urgency, SLA requirements, location and available resource.
• Produce clear daily and forward programmes for operational teams.
• Monitor progress throughout the working day and re-plan where circumstances change.
• Work closely with supervisors and field teams to understand progress, delays and resource requirements.
• Identify potential gaps in the programme before they result in lost productivity.
• Coordinate work involving supporting resources such as excavation, backfill, reinstatement or specialist activities where required.
• Maintain accurate job information within client planning and works management systems.
• Review jobs that are delayed, restricted or unable to progress and support their resolution.
• Provide clear visibility of planned versus completed work and any issues affecting delivery.
• Work closely with other planners to maintain consistency across the programme.
• Support improvements to planning processes as the team and business continue to grow.

Qualifications and Experience

We are specifically looking for somebody with previous water R&M planning experience.

You should have:

• Experience planning reactive and/or maintenance activity within the water utilities sector.
• A good understanding of how water repair and maintenance work is delivered in the field.
• Experience managing workbanks and scheduling work to operational teams.
• The ability to manage changing priorities without losing control of the wider programme.
• Good geographical planning and resource coordination skills.
• Confidence communicating with supervisors, field teams, contractors and clients.
• Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
• The ability to recognise delivery risks and take action before they become operational problems.
• Experience using utility planning or works management systems.
• Good Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Teams skills.
• A practical approach to problem solving and the confidence to take ownership of your area of responsibility.
• Experience of planning excavation, repair, backfill and reinstatement activities would be particularly useful.
