Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • eLearning Design & Development:
  • Design, storyboard, and develop high-quality digital learning content in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs), applying instructional design principles and accessibility standards. Ensure resources align with curriculum goals and are engaging for diverse learner audiences.

Multimedia Content Creation:

  • Create and edit a wide range of digital assets including SCORM packages, video, audio, animations, and interactive activities. Use tools such as Articulate Storyline, Evolve, H5P, and Adobe Creative Cloud to produce accessible and mobile-friendly resources.
  • LMS Content Management:
  • Upload, organise, and maintain eLearning and CPD content across LEDA (Moodle Workplace) and other learning platforms. Ensure content is correctly tagged, version controlled and tested. Support colleagues in accessing and navigating content, resolving content-related issues.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Apply JTL’s quality standards and accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG 2.2) during content development. Review learner feedback and analytics to make iterative improvements. Support user testing where required.
  • Collaboration & Support:
  • Work closely with the Digital Product Manager, SMEs, tutors, and support teams to ensure resources meet learner needs and curriculum expectations. Provide design guidance and templates for tutors creating their own digital resources.
  • Innovation & Learning Design:
  • Stay up to date with digital learning trends, tools, and technologies. Contribute to the improvement of internal processes, suggest new formats and approaches, and experiment with innovations such as AI, adaptive learning, and gamification.
  • Industry Trends & Emerging Technologies:
  • Maintain awareness of current and emerging trends in digital learning, including the application of generative AI, immersive media, and automation in content development. Share relevant insights with the team and proactively suggest enhancements to JTL’s digital learning offer.
  • Content Maintenance & Governance:
  • Ensure content is regularly reviewed, updated, and archived as appropriate. Maintain clear records and documentation in line with JTL policies. Help ensure resources are accessible from central platforms and comply with organisational standards.

Essential Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE\’s (grade A*-C or 9–4), including English and mathematics.
  • Demonstrable experience in creating digital learning materials in a professional setting.
  • Skilled in rapid authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Evolve, etc.).
  • Experienced in uploading and managing content within an LMS/VLE environment. (Moodle)
  • Familiarity with accessibility requirements and digital content standards.
  • Confident using media tools such as Camtasia, Descript, or Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Able to script, record and edit digital audio/video content.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the vocational education, apprenticeships, or skills sector.
  • An interest in Podcasting.
  • Skilled at using HTML/CSS/JS
  • Awareness of learning analytics, xAPI or SCORM standards.
  • Understanding of user-centred design and learner experience best practice.
  • Professional Accreditation such as CDLP or CMALT.
