We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our reputable Engineering client.
My client work predominantly in the food industry so a knoweledge of this industry would be advantageous.
Candidates will need to be proficient in CAD software such as Solidworks, Auto CAD and Autodesk Inventor.
Job Purpose The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and improving mechanical systems, components, and products.
The role involves creating engineering drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, supporting sales with design layouts and ensuring designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Develop layout prototypes and support sales activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturers, procurement, and the project team.
- Review and improve existing product designs for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Select suitable materials, manufacturing methods, and mechanical components.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and safety regulations.
- Support production and resolve technical issues during manufacturing.
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
- Prepare technical reports, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and documentation.
