A senior leadership role responsible for independent oversight of all portfolio management activity undertaken by the AIFM, including delegated PMs, AR 'advice only' arrangements, and seconded PM staff. The role leads investment risk oversight, AML assessments for new investments, and fund documentation governance, and contributes to valuation oversight while remaining fully independent of PM execution. The role has no delegated investment discretion and does not participate in portfolio construction, trade execution, or day-to-day investment decision-making. The SMF4 designation reflects responsibility for investment and portfolio-related risk oversight within the AIFM, rather than firm-wide enterprise risk management. The role is a central pillar of the AIFM's investment governance and a key support to the CEO.
